METALLICA, OZZY OSBOURNE, MÖTLEY CRÜE Video Director Honored At MVPA Awards
May 19, 2007According to MusicVideoWire.com , legendary music video director Wayne Isham — who has a long video history working with METALLICA, QUEENSRŸCHE, JUDAS PRIEST, OZZY OSBOURNE, MÖTLEY CRÜE, BON JOVI, and DOKKEN, among others — was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 16th annual Music Video Production Association Awards, held on May 16 at Los Angeles' Orpheum Theatre. In a taped message that was shown during the ceremony, Lars Ulrich of METALLICA read off an endless name of artists that Isham hadworked with, ranging from QUEENSRŸCHE to N' SYNC to BRITNEY SPEARS to, yes, even MICHAEL BOLTON. The audience was stunned by the retrospective montage of Isham's work. The rapid-fire barrage of second-long snippets from his best clips amounted to almost five minutes of footage. Wayne took to the stage and received a standing ovation. He thanked his wife, his son and daughter, and everyone in the audience (who, he jokingly claimed "have worked for me at some point in your life"). To counter the evening's mentions of the low morale of the industry, he finished with a rousing speech about how the business will always be up and down and that making films was the greatest job in the world. This was met with agreement and applause.
